DFID is ‘Open for Business’

DFID has recently undertaken a review of its commissioning processes and we would like to identify ways to improve relationships with prospective suppliers, including broadening and developing our supply base by encouraging new entrants (including SME suppliers) into our market and win business delivering a huge variety of services across the world.

The event will provide information on DFID’s work and pipeline of business coming up over the next 18-24 months and how suppliers can get involved in delivering Foreign Economics Aid Related Services such as:

  • Education & Training
  • Construction Services e.g. Water, Sanitation and Hygiene
  • Research and Development
  • Economic Development
  • Governance & Security

DFID is interested in speaking with organisations who are willing & able to work in the above disciplines in the following geographical locations where DFID has offices including: China, Indonesia, Burma, India, Afghanistan, Bangladesh, Caribbean, Democratic Republic of Congo, Ethiopia, Ghana, Kenya, Malawi, Mozambique, Nepal, Nigeria, Occupied Palestinian Territories, Pakistan, Rwanda and Burundi, Sierra Leone and Liberia. Further information will be provided on the day and beyond but, as an example, for Education and Construction DFID are focusing on the following priorities:

  • Investing in good teaching: support decision-makers ready to take a fresh look at teacher training, recruitment and motivation to tackle the huge shortfall in skilled and motivated teachers
  • Backing system reform which delivers results in the classroom: help teachers to succeed by making education systems more accountable, effective and inclusive, supported by UK expertise
  • Infrastructure projects may involve providing high quality embedded and short-term expertise to country governments and regulatory counterparts to support improved delivery of infrastructure services. Projects may involve providing reliable energy for households and businesses, with significant synergies between the component areas.

Please note that due to limited places being available, the deadline for registering an interest in attending is 4pm, Friday 20th April.  Please email supplierengagement@dfid.gov.uk with any questions. Confirmation of your place will follow.

This free event will focus on the local operating environment and how to access contract opportunities with DFID.  In addition to senior members of DFID’s Procurement and Commercial team there will also be DFID programme staff in attendance along with staff from the Welsh Government who will be able to advise on how they can assist you to access overseas opportunities.

In addition to speaker slots, there will also be an opportunity for networking and 1-2-1s with DFID and Welsh Government staff.
